Chinese chipmaker Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC) announced new memory chip technology with 232 layers of memory cells to catch up with rivals Micron and SK Hynix. The development comes amid US’ efforts to curb Chinese semiconductor companies. An earlier report stated that Apple was considering using YMTC as a memory chip supplier.
