Samsung hosted its Unpacked event in San Francisco last night, where it launched three new products. First, it unveiled the much fussed-over flagship smartphone series — Galaxy S20 series. The company also unveiled its second foldable screen smartphone — the Galaxy Z Flip, followed by a third announcement about the Galaxy Buds Plus.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 series includes three smartphones — Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra.
Galaxy S20 series pricing, availability
The Galaxy S20 is priced at $999, whereas the Galaxy S20 Plus will set you back you $1,200. The Galaxy S20 Ultra is priced at $1,400 in the US. The smartphones will be available to pre-order starting 21 February. As for sale, the S20 series will be rolled out in stores beginning 6 March in the US. Samsung says the phones will be offered by all major US carriers.
Pricing and availability in India are yet to be announced.
The Galaxy S20 comes in Cloud Pink, Cloud Blue and Cosmic Grey colour variants, while the Galaxy S20 Plus will be available in Cloud Blue, Cosmic Black and Cosmic Grey colour options.
The top-tier Galaxy S20 Ultra comes in two colour variants — Cosmic Black and Cosmic Grey.
Galaxy S20, S20 Plus specifications
Both Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus share a few design details like punch-hole display and a rectangular camera module.
The Galaxy S20 features a 6.2-inch QHD+ Infinity O display that comes with a resolution of 3,200 X 1,444 pixels. The display comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy S20 Plus also has the same display except for the display size, as it comes with a 6.7-inch display. Both the [phones come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
In terms of cameras, Galaxy S20 sports a 10 MP punch-hole selfie camera (same as S20 Plus) and on the back, you will see a triple rear camera. This rear camera setup includes 64 MP telephoto camera, 12 MP wide-angle camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. In S20 Plus has a quad rear camera setup as in addition to the three cameras that come in S20, you will also get one ToF camera. Both the smartphones come with enhanced Super Steady mode.
Coming to the battery, Galaxy S20 houses a 4,000 mAh battery whereas S20 Plus is equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery. In 5G variant, S20 offers 12 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage whereas in LTE variant it offers 8 GB RAM and 128 G storage which is expandable up to 1 TB via microSD card.
Galaxy S20 Plus 5G comes with 12 GB RAM and up to 512 GBB storage and the LTE variant offers 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Both the phones run on Android 10 and are powered by a 64-bit octa-core processor.
Galaxy S20 Ultra specifications
The S20 Ultra features a 6.9-inch QHD+ Infinity O display that comes with a resolution of 3,200 X 1,444 pixels. Just like the other two smartphones in the series, this one also comes with a 120 Hz display refresh rate. An in-screen fingerprint sensor is also available in this phone.
On the camera front, it houses a quad-camera setup at the back that includes a 108 MP primary camera, 48 MP telephoto camera, 12 MP ultra wide camera and a ToF camera. the smartphone supports 10x hybrid optical zoom and 100X digital zoom. For selfies, you will get a 40 MP punch hole camera on the front.
Galaxy S20 Ultra is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery. In terms of storage, both 5G and LTE variants will offer 16 GB and 12 GB RAM options and 128 GB and 512 GB storage options. The storage is expandable up to 1 TB via microSD card.
